We have recently undergone a name change and we are now River City Preschool Centre.

River City Preschool Centre

Our new website is currently under construction and once completed you will be directed there automatically.

Welcome!  We have a lot of information here to inform you about who we are, what we do and why we would love to have you consider making River City Preschool your choice for your child's early learning.

Learning Through Play

You can't fail when you play

At River City Preschool playing is key to a young learner and an essential component of our program. Exploring and experimenting through themed activities, songs, books, crafts and field trips, your child will learn by active participation, and hands on experience in playful and unique ways.

We encourage children to be free to explore craft materials and express themselves freely without adult expectations placed on their work. Our teachers focus on the process, rather than the final product. Learning should be fun and we hope to instill this belief in your child through which they can use throughout their school years and their lives.

Our 'learn through play' classroom emphasizes the social, emotional, physical, creative and intellectual development of each child. All of these developmental elements help build a child's positive self-esteem and his or her unique personal attributes. Within a learn through play environment, each child learns and develops at an individual pace, while still benefiting from being part of a group

Our Co-operative Approach

Parent participation lies at the heart of our preschool as a co-operative, where the parents literally “own the school”. The active and engaged role parents play in the day to day learning environment and in maintaining the school is one of the things that sets our co-operative run preschool apart.

As a cooperative, River City Preschool works in partnership with the parents to enhance the children's growth and development, and provide a safe learning environment. When a child feels secure, they can learn to take risks and open their minds to the world around them.

A child's education is the cooperative responsibility of many people in the community. The interaction between teachers, classmates, parents and the community play an important role in children’s development. Each can encourage a child's creativity and learning, as well as intellectual, emotional and physical development. The diversity of backgrounds of young learners is recognised by River City Preschool and provision has been made in the curriculum for a rich diversity of learners.

We believe that cooperation between parents and teachers in reinforcing common goals is an unbeatable combination in nurturing young children. Teachers provide educational expertise, objectivity and experience; parents provide knowledge of the child acquired through their loving and caring relationship. Together, they can strengthen and enhance the quality of the child’s playschool experience. When parents are involved in their child's education, the entire family benefits and the specific child’s achievement levels tend to rise.
